Accounting Staff

Mike is the President and sole owner of the firm. He has been a CPA since 1982, and in 1984 founded the accounting firm that has evolved to become BlankenBecler Advisors. As the President, Mike is actively involved in the overall management of the firm and is primarily responsible for managing our strategic core systems that maintain the high standards of quality that we are so very proud of. In addition, he is directly responsible for the firm's individual tax services, and the financial and retirement planning services.

Areas of expertise: individual and business taxation, general business consulting, construction industry taxation, new business formation development, financial and retirement planning, real estate investment taxation, tax audit representation.

Memberships: Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Jon Ryzenga, CPA

Jon is the firm's Accounting & Tax Manager. He has been a CPA since 1997, and he joined our firm in 2002. In addition to providing a variety of accounting, tax, and consulting services to our clients, Jon is responsible for managing the firm's financial reporting services. Jon has considerable knowledge in many specialized areas of financial reporting and taxation, such as retirement plans, trusts and estates, construction contractors, real estate investment, and tax exempt organizations, just to name a few. His extensive experience with doctors, dentists, chiropractors, and other health care professionals qualify him to be an exceptional advisor to our clients in those industries.

Areas of expertise: general business accounting and reporting, healthcare industry accounting and taxation, construction industry accounting and taxation, real estate investment taxation, tax exempt organization accounting and taxation, individual and corporate income tax compliance and reporting, payroll taxes, retirement plan administration.

Lisa Powell, S.T.A. (Senior Terrific Accountant)

Lisa is one of the firm's staff accountants. Since joining our firm in 2000, she has been responsible for providing general accounting, bookkeeping and payroll services to our clients. She also prepares draft financial statements and draft tax returns (for review by our CPAs). Her experience and exceptional analytical skills enable her to be very effective at assisting client in the reconciliation of their accounting system transactions, and the resolution of tax compliance issues. She has received the accreditation as a Certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor®. In addition, she is in the process of obtaining the Advanced Certification in the Quickbooks ProAdvisor® program, which uniquely qualifies her to offer the highest quality Quickbooks® training for our clients.

Areas of responsibilities: general business accounting and bookkeeping, payroll services, Quickbooks® software installation and training, business tax return preparation, research and resolution of tax compliance issues.

Jennifer is one of the firm's staff accountants. Since joining our firm in 2005, her primary responsibilities have included general bookkeeping and payroll services, and the preparation of draft individual tax returns (for review by our CPAs). She has recently completed coursework earning her the professional attainment designation Tax Advisor IV, and is currently in the process of obtaining her Enrolled Agent license. Her experience gained from having been a small business owner, combined with her exceptional proficiency in the area of taxation enable her to be very effective in working with our clients to resolve tax compliance issues.

Areas of responsibilities: general business bookkeeping, payroll services, tax return preparation, research and resolution of tax compliance issues.

Debbie is the company's Firm Administrator. She is the direct supervisor of the firm's administrative staff. In addition to providing timely support services in response to client needs, she is directly responsible for the procedures by which we internally process the materials and documents that we receive from, and that we produce for, our clients. Since joining our firm in 1995, her exceptional organizational skills, resourcefulness, and dedication to the administrative department has contributed significantly to the success of our firm.

Areas of responsibilities: supervision of administrative staff and services, development and maintenance of internal policies and procedures, client billing and vendor payable management, supervision of electronic tax filing services, client contact management.

Andrea is the company's Administrative Assistant. She assists the Firm Administrator in providing timely support services in response to client needs. In addition to assisting appointment scheduling and enhancing communications between clients and our staff, she assists in processing the materials and documents that we receive from, and provide to, our clients. Since joining our firm in 2007, her exceptional service-oriented abilities have helped to create an atmosphere of rewarding and successful client relationships.

Areas of responsibilities: clerical assistance to administrative staff and accountants, processing of tax returns and other client documents, internal bookkeeping tasks, assistance with scheduling and other client communication matters.
